One of my earliest memories is clambering through rural woodlands on the East Coast of Scotland with my Grandad to tend to his beehives. Even at a young age I was fascinated by the sheer number of bees and by the way in which they were able to run such a structured and orderly process to collect and make their honey.

​

Fast forward a couple of decades and with my Grandad sadly passed, I found myself the proud owner of his single remaining beehive! With very little knowledge of the beekeeping process I set off to collect the hive in a hire van and bring it closer to home. Little did I know that I’d have a lot of company buzzing around the cab just over an hour later!

This was where my journey really began and with a lot of resilience, hard work, perseverance and self-teaching, I slowly but surely built my business from that one single hive to multiple hives across several locations in the North East of Scotland.

The past three years have seen a big expansion in the honey production side of the business and I now proudly stock various varieties of honey with several local retailers and have a huge online following of customers always eagerly awaiting the next batch.

​

For me the next step in business is utilising all the rich, golden beeswax that’s left behind once the honey has been extracted. Beeswax is an excellent, natural product that’s rich in anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties and it seems absurd that this “by-product” could ever go to waste!
